Shall we make this a thing?

It has been one year since I sent one of my numbered newsletters. You can read the post here.

In that post, I mention a memory of my mom saying she never wants to miss the leaves changing again. I have no idea if she remembers that moment, but I certainly do. The lesson isn’t just about being so busy you miss the changing of the seasons, obviously. It’s about life.

I’ve gotten too “busy” and too “caught up” with others' ideas and with removing myself from the discomfort that I’ve missed some changing leaves in my life.

Here are some things that I’ve missed lately:

  • making art
  • playing music
  • dancing and moving in groups
  • reading slowly and without pressure
  • writing for pleasure - not money

It always seems that around this time of year, I take stock of my life and try to be more honest with myself about how I want things to be going forward. One thing that I want to do from now on is let go of this constant need for everything I do to have monetary value—more doing for the sake of doing.

I don’t know what drives me to write publicly like this. I’m a private person, but then I do something like this. It makes no sense.

But here I am, sharing my feelings about not wanting to miss the changing leaves in life.

Anyway, don’t miss the leaves.
